Proudly serving since 1903, GFPD covers 455 square miles, from the town of Gypsum east to the Eagle County Airport and parts of Buckhorn Valley, south to LEDE Reservoir and beyond, west to Hanging Lake Tunnel, Sweetwater, Deep Creek Road and Coffee Pot Road, and north to Catamount Creek on Colorado River Road, including I-70 from mile marker 143 to mile marker 125.8 and Highway 6 from mile marker 145 west to Dotsero. 


 Gypsum Fire Protection District responds to medical calls, motor vehicle crashes, motor vehicle fires, structure fires, fire alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, wildland fires, waterline breaks, flooding, swift-water rescues, high-angle rescues, hazardous materials incidents, plane incidents and crashes, backcountry rescues, and general citizen requests for assistance. 


Gypsum Fire Protection District is a combination fire department made up of 11 full-time personnel, 5 part-time personnel and 11 volunteer firefighters.
